Improving my Relationship with Technology
To my loved ones: Please don’t panic if you don’t reach me instantly!
Several years ago, my kids were out west on vacation and panicked when they couldn’t reach me one afternoon. They texted and called me for several hours while they were at the resort where they stayed.
Once they finally reached me, their panicked voices said, “Ma, are you okay? Where were you?”
I told them I was out to lunch with a friend and then did a little shopping at Garden City, a major shopping plaza in our area. They exclaimed, “You’re never off the grid like this. That’s not like you. We were so worried.”
Then they informed me they called Turn to Ten, the local news station that reports recent accidents and breaking news!! Poor kids thought that I got in an accident. So sorry, kids 😞❤️
I apologized (laughed a little, too) but assured them that once in a while, being off the grid for a few hours is normal. Usually, my ringer is off when out to eat, but that day, the time stretch was a little longer than most. Their concern was understandable because, at that time, my marketing job kept me online quite a bit. Also, shopping temptations took over!
After this, our phones are connected to the Find My Phone app. It works well…
