The book that taught me to stop my frivolous spending habits!
…..And how budgeting helped more than just my finances

I had a book on budgeting on my reading list for months. I wish I had bought it earlier than I did.
I finally bought and read The One Week Budget by Tiffany Aliche recently. (Linked her name to her website to read more about her).
For some reason, budgeting helped me budget more than just money!
First, of course, it helped with my finances. The author has you use grids to list your bills and income. So far, it’s working for me, along with her other steps to help with a budget system.
I like her writing style. Very relatable and easy to follow her plan too.
Once I got serious about keeping track of my finances and spending less on things I didn’t need, it spun into other areas.
I am organizing how I wash clothes, clean, and sort through things. I’m unsure if the system just stuck with me and I somehow applied it to these other tasks or if I was heading in that direction anyway. (Regardless if I read the book or not).
I’ve been trying to lead a minimal life for some time now. After sorting and decluttering for a while, I felt in control. Then a little time would pass, and I’d end up with some clutter and disorganization again.
But just about a week after reading the book, I noticed I started getting a better grip on my whole apartment.
Maybe money has some power, right?
Or maybe I’m just not going to let things get out of control in different areas of my life. It might just be the time for a total organizational make-over!

It seems now that the organizing feels more purposeful, and I have a better grip on continuing.
I hope this newfound determination to harness clutter and overspending stays with me for a long time.
By the way, I overspend primarily for coffees, lunches…
